Practice camera angles

This is an Extreme close up of Nic's eye to do this i put the camera into a close up shot and then zoomed. Extreme close ups are utilized to closely identify with character or action. This type of shot is often used to symbolize horror in a thriller film.

This is an over the shoulder shot, I quite like this photo as it has Nic's shadow showing in front of him. This type of shot is used to place the audience in the position of a character, it can be used when a character is being followed by someone it can also show suspense and we as the audience don’t know which character we are looking through the eyes of. I took the picture by standing just behind Nic but slightly to the left.

This is a medium close up shot of my friend Marwan. This type of shot is used in film as it really brings focus onto characters. I took this just by standing directly in front of him not being so close that it turned into a close

This is a low angle shot of Laura ,I took the shot by lying on the floor and pointing the camera slightly at an angle upwards. Low angle shots are used in film to create a sense of power , status or menace.

This is a shot of my friends summer and Nic, to get the shot i had to lean over the top of them standing on the table. A birds eye view shot adds to audience appeal giving the audience a different view of the action.

This is a close up shot of my friend James, I just took it by moving the camera closer to his face than usual. Having a shot at this angle allows the audience to identify with characters emotions.

A high angle shot of summer , I took this by climbing on a fence so I could get more height. This type of shot is usually used to show insignificance and vulnerability.

This shot of Laura, Summer and Nic is called a worms eye view shot. I took this by laying flat on my back and getting them to stand looking down at me, it make them look pretty intimidating. The worms eye view shot is often used to indicate fear in a character , it’s a good way for audiences to view events from a characters vulnerable perspective.

  1. Wonderfully effective shots Leah. If you can translate these type of shots into your thriller then you will strengthen it considerably. How about starting off with an establishing shot of somebody looking up and three witnesses as in your worm's eye shot. Where the enigma would be is that the identity of the person lying on the ground is hidden from the camera. Or on the other hand the faces of those standing above the person on the ground are blurred. This would be a very dramatic opening shot.
